People and nature co-exist in urban habitat

The ninth habitat garden in Changning will be built in Xinjing No.5 Village as the prelude to the construction of green digital resilient community.

Beixinjing Community will further mobilize volunteers to participate in the construction and maintenance of the habitat garden, and create a good atmosphere of community autonomy and co-governance.

The youth group of West Yan’an High School nearby will take the advantage of the habitat garden to strengthen the link with the community and nature. 

They will carry out animal and plant observation and subject research here, volunteer as docents and play their part in the maintenance of the garden.

 

Practices to boost people’s livelihoods

Changning will equip 10 more neighborhoods with shared charging piles and install fire-fighting facilities in 157 charging places of electric bicycles.

Meanwhile, the district will build another 35 breakfast spots, seven neighborhood canteens, two comprehensive senior service centers and three more daycare centers for local residents.

A total of 400 families will have elderly-friendly facilities installed while 3,000 more smoke detectors will take care of elderly people who live alone. Five elderly-friendly medical institutes will be established at the same time.

Each community or town in Changning will have a shelter for juveniles. Childcare facilities will look after toddlers throughout the district and elementary school students in summer vacation.

 

Turning negative spaces under bridges to colorful parks

Changning’s practice to use public space beneath bridges is being promoted by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Through the micro renewal of the space under the bridge, the public open space under the Middle Ring Bridge across Suzhou Creek is increased by about 18,100 square meters, including about 5,630 square meters of sports facilities and 1,885 square meters of supporting facilities.

At the same time, 1,900 square meters of public space were added under Kaixuan Road Bridge and 790 square meters of public space under Gubei Road Bridge, which transformed the land with low utilization efficiency into a multi-functional public space integrating sports, leisure and popular science, and meet the needs of surrounding residents for public open space.

 

Hongqiao primed for innovation and growth

With less than one seventh of the land area of Hongqiao International Central Business District, Changning District contributed nearly half of the regional GDP and more than one third of the tax revenue last year. 

Changning District has introduced a total of 40 headquarters enterprises, including 27 regional headquarters of multinational corporations, eight headquarters of private enterprises, two trade headquarters and three R&D centers.

In the next stage, the Hongqiao CBD will fully support Changning District to give full play to its own advantages, seize the high-end links of the industrial chain and value chain, and pay close attention to the layout in key areas and new tracks. Both sides will strive to promote policy and institutional innovation and strengthen regional cooperative development.

The Hongqiao CBD will cooperate with Changning District to make a deep and thorough institutional innovation, and turn the advantages of frontend into a development victory. 

Both sides will pay close attention to the implementation of the policies and measures issued by the municipal government to improve the functional level of the business district, focus on cross-border and offshore policy innovation, amplifying the spillover effect of China International Import Expo, further optimize the business environment from the aspects of process, service, efficiency and supervision, and jointly launch the “all-in-one” government services in the business district.

 

Changning’s part to play in Hongqiao CBD

With aviation innovation service and Internet plus businesses as the core and for the agglomeration of high-end, characteristic and emerging airport industry, the Changning part of Hongqiao

International Central Business District Changning area will form the new kinetic energy that drives the high quality development of regional economy.

At the same time, Changning will enhance housing security to promote industry-city integration and better serve local people.

On the other hand, Changning will build a convenient and accessible ecological corridor on the basis of the promenade along the Suzhou Creek, greenways to the west of the Outer Ring Road and along Xinjinggang.

The district will also create a comprehensive culture and sports system on the basis of Hongqiao Sports Park, Linkong skateboard park and music park.

A vertical public transport system will be built together with a slow traffic system to form an efficient and convenient commuting network.
