Golden ginkgo: a celebration of art and life in Hongqiao

As the ginkgo leaves turn golden, Huangjinchengdao welcomes its most beautiful season of the year. Starting this weekend (November 30), Hongqiao Subdistrict will host the 2024 Ginkgo Art and Life Festival with the theme "ginkgo-lined streets, a more artistic life," offering visitors a richer viewing experience.

This Ginkgo Life Season features music, penmanship, citywalk and reading. It organizes seven activities full of cultural and artistic flair, aiming to seamlessly blend the natural beauty of the streets, artistic humanistic scenes and open shop spaces. This creates a platform for cultural exchange and community engagement among both local and international residents.

Here are some of the activities:

Immersive street music concert

Amidst the backdrop of ginkgo trees, an extraordinary street concert is about to unfold. The event invites several foreign musicians who will deliver a feast of sight and sound with their enchanting melodies. The intertwining of ginkgo leaves and music evokes the romance and vitality of autumn.

Master printmakers' street creation

As late autumn sets in, the pedestrian street is painted gold by ginkgo leaves. In collaboration with the Changning Art Center, print artists are invited to capture this beautiful moment from a unique perspective, creating prints that showcase the ginkgo splendor of Huangjinchengdao.

Romantic historical micro-tour of century-old Hongqiao Road

This walking tour begins at the Shanghai Dance School History Museum, passes through sites such as the former Guan Leming Pen Factory and the Anna Chan Chennault Residence, and proceeds to the Cheng Shifa Art Museum, finally reaching the Huangjinchengdao Pedestrian Street to admire the exclusive golden scenery along the way.

Target Audience: parent-child families with children aged 4-12 (15 groups)

Neighborhood parent-child theater exploration

With the theme of ginkgo reading and parent-child walking, this adventure activity links together handmade art creation, theater performances, immersive reading and musical singing. Parents and children explore and experience the charm of immersive theater together. This enhances parent-child relationships and allows them to feel the vitality and cultural essence conveyed by the ginkgo and the neighborhood.
