‘CN100’ initiative to achieve ‘dual carbon’ goals

After nearly two years of continuous efforts, on June 12, at the first Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo, Changning officially released the “Carbon Neutrality 100” initiative mechanism for building carbon neutrality (hereinafter referred to as “CN100”) to Shanghai.

It is understood that the mechanism similar to “CN100” has no precedent in China, which is an important step taken by Changning District in promoting the journey of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality,” and also an important initiative to serve the dual carbon of buildings in Shanghai

As a downtown district, building carbon emissions account for about 72 percent of the total carbon emissions in Changning District, of which more than 70 percent come from public buildings.

Therefore, the key to achieving “peak carbon neutrality” in Changning District is to continue energy conservation and carbon reduction in public buildings.

Since the 13th Five Year Plan period (2016-2020), thanks to the achievements and accumulation of the World Bank’s Shanghai low-carbon city project, the energy-saving management mechanism for existing large public buildings in Changning has been preliminarily formed.

The renovation area is at the leading level in the city, and the energy efficiency level of public buildings is higher than the average level in the city. Despite achieving certain results, there is still a certain gap between Changning and achieving the goal of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality.”

Therefore, it is necessary to innovate the existing “dual carbon” working mechanism, achieve government guidance and market promotion of dual wheel drive, and further stimulate the enthusiasm of building owners to actively achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction. “CN100” emerged in this context.

The content of the “CN100” initiative is that building entities voluntarily join the initiative and prioritize the implementation of their own carbon dioxide emission reduction strategies, namely: achieving optimal energy efficiency and fully utilizing renewable energy applications, and on this basis, neutralizing the inevitable carbon dioxide gas emissions during its operation stage through carbon offsetting, achieving carbon neutrality within the commitment period.

The commercial format radiates from basement to four floors above ground. In October 2022, the mall officially launched a commercial upgrade plan.

This upgrade is mainly carried out in three phases, with the first phase covering the basement and the first floor. In January 2023, the shopping mall entered the first phase of construction and renovation.

The Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements from June 11 to 14 mainly promoted and publicized low-carbon technologies, products and achievements to help achieve green and low-carbon development.

The event, themed “Path to Carbon Neutrality,” consists of theme exhibitions, trade matching activities and forums.

Sino-Italian companies to interact in Greater Hongqiao

The first Creative Twin Cities Festival – Sino-Italian Activity Month was successfully held at the Greater Business Service Center on June 14.

As one of the annual series of activities of the “Greater Hongqiao China Europe Enterprises Cross border Exchange and Cooperation Platform,” this event selects the theme of “Sino-Italian” enterprise cooperation and exchange.

Firstly, Changning will collaborate with Florence, the birthplace of the European Renaissance, to promote cultural exchange between enterprises through various forms such as art exhibitions and forums, to expand the “cultural depth” of Sino-Italian corporate exchanges and attract more high-quality Italian enterprises to gather in Changning.
