New progress made in gymnastics center construction 发布时间:2023-10-18
The overall renovation project of Shanghai International Gymnastics Center has made new progress.
The final concrete pouring of the underground structure in Zone 1 has been completed recently, which laid a solid foundation for the next stage of the project and kicked off the construction of the aboveground steel structure.

The overall renovation is scheduled to be completed in December 2025.
Shanghai International Gymnastics Center was previously Huxi Stadium, which was built in 1953. The future Shanghai International Gymnastics Center will be built into a comprehensive gymnasium with three floors above the ground and four floors underground.
Competition halls and training halls will be superimposed to create the first comprehensive gymnasium in Shanghai that integrates competition performance and national fitness.

The main building is designed in the shape of a sphere. When night falls, it looks like a glittering “pearl of the night in Shanghai.” In front of the gymnastics center, there will be sunken sports leisure square, outdoor basketball court, sports sculpture, rest yard and other places to increase sports leisure and service, and set off the national fitness atmosphere.

The completed sunken square and underground open space can not only solve the problems of lighting, ventilation and fire protection s, but also give full consideration to the connection with urban space, providing more activity places for the people.
