The Earth Day and World Book Day was celebrated on April 20 at the Golden Street with the theme of “Ecological Reading Season – Co-drawing the Earth Dream.”

Focusing on the concept of ecological and environmental protection, with reading practice as a link, it has attracted the enthusiastic participation of many Chinese and foreign residents, presenting a gift from the international community for the sustainable development of the Earth.

Accompanied by melodious music, students from Shanghai Hong Qiao International School performed on stage. They conveyed their love and care for the Earth through singing and dancing.

The co-painting of the Earth Dream - creating a huge scroll of art - pushed the atmosphere of the scene to a climax. Children from both home and abroad made their beautiful wishes for the Earth on the painting scroll through hand prints, blessings, signatures, and other means.

A “Co-drawing Earth Dream” painting full of love and hope was slowly unfolding in the center of the stage.

Around the stage, tents that embodied the ecological creativity and concepts of residents from various countries spread across the square. Environmental protection activities such as China’s “Plant Collection,” Brazil’s “Rainforest Protection,” Canada’s “Polar Bear Rescue Relay,” and Russia’s “Animal Protection” attracted the participation of nearly 500 Chinese and foreign residents.

These activities not only allowed people to feel the charm of reading in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, but also subtly conveyed the concept of ecological protection.

The organizer combined reading with environmental protection, planting the seeds of ecological and environmental protection for children, gradually cultivating a reading habit of “sustainable development,” and enabling Chinese and foreign children to transform their learning and thinking into the “child governance” momentum of ecological and green neighborhoods.

At the same time, the event was held to guide children to shift from “asking me to read” to “I want to read,” discover the significance and charm of independent reading, and return the matter of reading to the ecological essence and the pursuit of knowledge.
