Fashion landmark with deep historical sediment

The Colombia Circle is located in the historical and cultural area of Xinhua Road in Changning District, with a history dating back to the 1920s and 1930s. 

The three existing historical buildings in the park - Columbia Country Club, Navy Club and its affiliated swimming pool, and Sun Ke Villa - were built at that time. 

The industrial buildings scattered throughout the park were designed and constructed by the Shanghai Institute of Biological Products, which worked and produced here in the 1950s. 

With the relocation of the research institute, this place has evolved from an entertainment and leisure venue to an efficient and orderly enclosed research facility.

In 2018, the first phase of the Columbia Circle transformed into a fashionable and trendy cultural landmark, becoming a public cultural block open 24/7. 

Various cultural activities such as exhibitions, dramas, concerts, and lectures were held continuously throughout the year in various spaces of the park.

As time goes by, starting from April 2023, the second phase of the Columbia Circle was unveiled in batches, unleashing the vitality of the space once again. 

The second phase is located on the south side of the first phase, with a total of five new multi-story buildings and a total construction area of approximately 24,000 square meters. 

The buildings adopt the Bauhaus style with simple and tough lines, and incorporate unique elements of the old buildings. The design of altars, spiral staircases, and other ornamental features adds a lot of leisure and social attributes to the space.

Efforts make district go green

In recent years, the air in Changning has become fresher, the water quality in the rivers has become cleaner, and the green ecological space has become more abundant. 

The people’s sense of gain, happiness, and security towards a beautiful ecological environment has been continuously improved. A beautiful ecological environment has become a brand name for Changning to accelerate the construction of an internationally community of excellence with global influence.

In recent years, Changning District has adhered to the concept of green development, deeply practiced the important concept of people’s cities, continuously improved regional ecological service functions, and explored vivid practices of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. 

Changning will continue to guide more public participation in biodiversity conservation work, promote public education and sharing of blue-green ecological spaces, carry out more popular science projects.

It will also further promote the formation of a habitat system that integrates blue-green and organically connects various spaces, systematically improve the ecological environment quality of the district, and build an international community of excellence where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.

New center showcases classic brands worldwide

The 2025 Spring/Summer MODE Shanghai Fashion Exhibition kicked off at the Yi Fung Center on October 9. Brands such as SHAPE Into, LOOP IN LOOP, AmyChu from Changning, as well as fashion masterpieces from around the world, gathered together to present the integration of tradition and modernity, and to showcase the future direction and vision of the fashion industry.

This year’s autumn comes earlier

Autumn has officially arrived, the earliest in 10 years. At this moment, in the park and greenway of Changning, autumn shows us how beautiful it is. 

Century-old street a time honored symbol

Xinhua Road, from the “most Shanghai” wutong tree street view, more than 270 western-style houses and villas with different styles, to the film “pilgrimage” Shanghai Film Art Center, to the old alley with many new young people - Xinhua Community Building Center... This 2,434 meter long “Shanghai first garden road” starts from Huaihai Road W. in the east and ends at Kaixuan Road in the west, inherits the urban context and creates cultural “new” symbols in the process of renewal and upgrading over a century of vicissitudes.
