Streets for walk this autumn

Wuyi Road and Yuyuan Road in Changning have been selected as “25 Beautiful Streets for CityWalk” throughout the city. This autumn, people can take a walk on these two century-old roads, learn the stories behind the old buildings alongside, and witness the development achievements of people’s urban construction together.

Foreign-funded businesses set trading record

Members of the Changning Trading Group at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Theland New Cloud (Shanghai) Digimart Ltd and Sumitomo Electric Hardmetal Trading (Shanghai) Co, Ltd topped the intended transaction amount of the group on the first day of the 7th CIIE with US$63 million and US$44.8 million respectively. 

As one of the core carrier areas of the CIIE, Changning will continue to actively undertake the spillover effects of the CIIE, deepen trade facilitation, and strive to create a first-class business environment, attracting enterprises to move from “exhibitors” to “investors” and from “first-time customers” to “return customers.”

‘Invest in Shanghai,’ ‘Invest in Changning’

As the first of the “Invest in Shanghai” series of promotional activities at this year’s CIIE, Changning District held a special promotion event on November 6 to fully utilize the investment promotion platform function of the CIIE, share development opportunities with more than 150 new and old partners, and deepen investment cooperation.

No one is better than home

The event for overseas Chinese to visit Changning was held on November 8 in the Hongqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone of Changning. 

This event not only showcased the economic and social development of Changning and the high-quality corporate style to overseas Chinese, but also enhanced their sense of identity and belonging to their motherland and hometown, and explored more opportunities for cooperation and development. 

Changning will continue to play a bridging and connecting role, strengthen the connection and communication with overseas Chinese, for their contribution to the economic and social development of the district.

Old street with new outlook

Yuyuan Road blends fashion trends with historical culture, exuding a unique charm. As a street bearing rich history and culture, every brick and tile on Yuyuan Road seems to tell the past that shall not fade away.

An inconspicuous small alleyway has transformed into a fashionable new space that integrates cultural creativity and community commerce. It not only provides residents with a leisurely and relaxed community atmosphere, but also brings new vitality and attraction to the surrounding area, becoming one of the must visit check-in spots on Yuyuan Road.

Continuing the “new” and “old” coexistence pattern of urban renewal on Yuyuan Road, urban renewal fully unlocked the cultural code of Shanghai’s neighborhoods, and strived to find a balance between historical preservation and improvement of residents’ lives.

Breaking the closed layout of the original site, several teaching buildings have been renovated, colliding and integrating traditional classic architectural aesthetics with modern design concepts, at the same time, utilizing scarce site resources, focusing on the construction of public landscapes and facilities, emphasizing the integration of green ecology and community culture, creating an open space of about 1,000 square meters, all open to the public for free.

The coffee, art, fashion and other elements that could only be experienced on the streets in the past have been transplanted in the alleys of the city. The fresh, interesting and friendly scenes have formed a lasting attraction, bringing new vitality to the “alleyway culture” of the historical preservation area.
