Changning District has gained many “waste free cells” and achieved fruitful results in the construction of a “waste free city,” including “waste free communities,” “waste free schools,” and a “waste free airport.”

“Waste free cells” refer to various components of social production and life that have outstanding performance in reducing, resource utilization, and harmless disposal of solid waste at the source. 

“Waste free cells” are an important carrier for implementing the concept of “waste free city” construction, promoting the formation of resource-saving, environmentally friendly production methods, and simple, moderate, green and low-carbon lifestyles.

Changning District solidly promotes the construction of “waste free cells” and has built a total of 22 “waste free cells” in five types: “waste free institutions,” “waste free hospitals,” “waste free factories,” “waste free campuses,” and “waste free express delivery outlets,” achieving full coverage of the first round of “waste free cell” construction. 

On this basis, the “zero waste” field in Changning continues to expand, from “zero waste communities” to “outstanding zero waste enterprises,” “zero waste airports” alliance, and “last mile of hazardous waste” alliance. 

This year, Changning District is promoting the construction of “zero waste cells” such as “zero waste hotels” and “zero waste buildings.” Based on the characteristics of industries in the central urban area, Changning will gradually carry out cultivation and construction, allowing “waste free cells” to penetrate into various fields of production, life, and consumption. 

It will mobilize and call on the whole society to establish a waste free concept, explore waste free production, advocate waste free consumption, and practice waste free office work, forming a strong atmosphere of national participation in the construction of a “waste free city.”
