Greenway the best way for cycling this spring

In April in Shanghai, spring is in full swing. In the popular spring cycling landmark of Changning Outer Ring Ecological Greenway in Shanghai, two groups of wisteria stands have entered their peak flowering period. 

The light purple flower clusters pour down like waterfalls, swaying in the wind like wind chimes, casting a dreamy filter over the city’s green corridor, becoming a must-see limited scenery in spring.

Entering the greenway from the entrance of Guangshun Road N., you will encounter this spring limited “Purple Secret Realm” as you continue forward. 

Under the wisteria trellis, light purple flower clusters hang layer by layer, resembling wind chimes. When swaying gently in the wind, it sounds like a spring waltz. 

The sunlight penetrates through the gaps between the flowers and leaves, casting light and shadow of light purple and deep purple on the ground. Pedestrians shuttle through them, their clothes stained with the fragrance of flowers, as if stepping into a fairy tale world.

As a “cycling friendly” ecological greenway in Shanghai, the combination of wisteria flower gallery and cycling culture is unique and ingenious. 

Cycling enthusiasts tacitly slowed down their speed as they passed by, allowing the wheels to run over the purple carpet woven with light and shadow, feeling the gentle fragrance of flowers brushing their faces. And the strolling visitors raised took selfie one after another, freezing their memories of spring with the waterfall as the background.

The greenway has entrances namely Guangshun Road N., Xianxia Road W., Quankou Road, and Konggang Road 8. The 6.25-kilometer trail runs through more than 20 flowering belts, with cherry blossoms, crabapples, February orchids, and irises blooming in April. Riding or walking can feel the natural vitality of “changing scenery with each step.”

Century-old street renewed with scenic spots

After more than two months of systematic renovation, the Yuyuan Road greening and upgrading project has been fully completed recently. This century-old narrow street has undergone standardized renovation of tree holes along the way and optimized more than 10 landscape nodes. 

At present, walking on Yuyuan Road, in the green shades along the way, each scenic spot is like a slowly unfolding spring painting.

Weekend market features home and foreign brands

On April 18, as one of the key events of the “First Launch of Shanghai,” the first “Oleh Oleh Festival” market was held in A. F. A complex, where shoppers encountered over 400 top domestic and international creative brands. 

There were also themed exhibitions, fun interactions, trendy forums, exciting performances, and other activities.

Limited route highlights ‘Flower Chasing’ CityWalk

On April 18, the “2025 Spring Day CityWalk Limited Route Inauguration Event” was held at Zhongshan Park, and the event simultaneously opened the “Spring Day Flower Chasing” themed market. People “immersed” themselves in the flower chasing map and received multiple gifts at the scene.

Festival celebrates better life 

On April 19, the sunken plaza at Golden Street transformed into an international community “grand hall.” The first “Vitality IN Hongqiao” International Community Better Life Festival with the theme of “Better Life, Better Hongqiao” officially opened. 

Chinese and foreign community residents, international school teachers and students, and representatives of local enterprises from different countries and regions got together, using culture as a medium and art as a bridge, to paint a new picture of a beautiful life of integration and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations.
