Recently, the second session of the 2025 " Shanghai Silicon Lane" Innovation Talk themed "Open Source Free Style" and the Youtiao Coffee Open Source Reading Club was held at Cultural Center of Huayang Community. With the theme of "Open Source Free Style", the event invited six experts from the technology, industry, legal and other fields to discuss how to promote cross-field collaboration and innovation through the concept of open source.

In the software and technology fields, open source specifically refers to open source code, a license model that allows users to freely use, copy, modify and develop software. The core of open source lies in "openness" and "sharing". Developers worldwide can participate in the creation and improvement of software, which promotes the free flow of knowledge, continuous evolution of technology, and prosperity of the innovation ecosystem. For example, the commonly used Linux operating system is built based on open source technology.

At the event, technology "experts" took turns to speak. Zheng Min, chairman of Shanghai Aoyou Information Technology Co., Ltd., as a representative of the "new micro-ecology", shared the development of the power equipment Internet of Things industry. Facing the ultra-difficult working conditions of "power generation, transmission, transformation, distribution and consumption" and the demand for special wireless communication in important industries, the company has successfully achieved key technological breakthroughs such as system-level ultra-low power consumption, massive access, and highly reliable dynamic self-organizing networks, obtained technical achievement appraisals at the international leading level, and won the State Grid Technology Invention First Prize.

Zhang Hongbing, a senior open source expert and Chief Operating Officer of Shanghai DaoCloud Network Technology Co., Ltd., shared his experience on the governance and operation strategies of international open source project communities with the audience. Against the background of the open source ecosystem, Zhang Hongbing introduced the importance and influence of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) as one of the world's fastest-growing open source communities, and the strong open source power shown by China as the second largest contributor to CNCF globally. KubeEdge, a project developed by the Shanghai DaoCloud team, is China's third graduated community project and the industry's first cloud-edge collaboration project. Through an advanced governance structure, efficient developer collaboration mechanism, in-depth engineering verification, and diverse ecological promotion paths, the project has achieved an active community of over 6,000 and mirror downloads of over 3.4 million times, which has orderly promoted the continuous innovation and upgrading of technology.

From a legal perspective, Zhao Yunhu, a partner of Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, LLP, combined his background as a programmer and lawyer to analyze the characteristics of open source large model licenses such as Alibaba Tongyi Qianwen License, MIT License, DeepSeek Model Release License, and Huawei Pangu Large Model Open Source License, and vividly explained the legal points in license compliance, data training and processing through cases. Zhao Yunhu emphasized that in the AI era, ensuring that technological exploration is both innovative and compliant is a compulsory course for every practitioner.

In terms of security, Wang Feng, Marketing Director of Shanghai Sectrend Information Technology Co., Ltd., gave a speech entitled "Insight, Challenges and Exploration of Software Supply Chain Security." He bluntly stated that current open source components also have potential security risks. With the wide application of open source technology, the security situation of the software supply chain has become increasingly complex and severe, and various potential threats are ever-present. Therefore, Wang Feng believes that SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) is the cornerstone of open source risk management, and the use of "AI + knowledge graph" to build an open source software gene map can ensure the accuracy of component traceability.

Finally, Ye Chang, AI Director of RT-Thread Electronics Technology, delivered a speech themed "Open Source + AI: Empowering Hundreds of Billions of Edge Devices with Intelligence." Shanghai RT-Thread Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. has been active in the open source field since 2006, accumulating about 2.5 billion installations and 250,000 to 300,000 open source community developers. Its products are widely used in home appliances, smart watches, rail transit, and automotive fields.

The in-depth integration of open source technology and AI has released huge energy in the field of edge computing, bringing new opportunities for intelligent transformation to hundreds of billions of edge devices. Ye Chang looked forward to the RT-Thread AI framework and technical route. Facing the "software" and "hardware" expressway of AI (the ability from the AI application layer directly to the hardware layer), it will build a bridge connecting "software" and "hardware", create a complete infrastructure on the "edge side", effectively solve "the last mile from AI to device terminals", and inject strong impetus into the digital and intelligent development of various industries in the future.

At the event, Zhang Guofeng, Dean of the Institute of Open Source Innovation and Digital Governance of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics and founder of the Shanghai Open Source Information Technology Association, shared content themed "International Cooperation in Open Source Innovation." He pointed out that as a public infrastructure of the digital economy, open source is also facing problems such as weaponization, politicization and resource monopoly, which violates the spirit of open source. Open source needs to break the exclusive and exclusive thinking and emphasize openness and sharing. Zhang Guofeng revealed the construction and vision of the "International Cooperation Demonstration Zone for Open Source Innovation", aiming to gather global technological, ideological and commercial forces to jointly build new rules for the digital world.

" Silicon Alley Shanghai " Innovation Talk is hosted by Changning District Science and Technology Commission, Changning District Association for Science and Technology, Huayang Rd Neighborhood Office, Shanghai Xinwei Technology Group Co., Ltd. and other units, and undertaken by Shanghai Art Collection Museum (Shanghai Science Popularization Base). Since 2023, the event has successfully held 7 sessions, inviting nearly 50 experts to share their innovation stories, which have attracted widespread social attention.
