To help businesses seize new procurement opportunities and build a "bridge" to the European market, the "European Partnership Initiative" was officially launched on August 20. Its inaugural event, the European Major Buyers Matchmaking Conference, was successfully held in Changning.
Supported by the Changning District Commerce Commission and the Hongqiao Overseas Development Service Center, the initiative was jointly launched by the Shanghai Enterprise Global Expansion Integrated Service Platform (Changning Sub-Platform) and Alibaba.com. It aims to connect European buyers with Chinese suppliers through a series of online and offline cross-border procurement matchmaking activities.
The first session invited leading manufacturers and traders from key European countries to meet with pre-screened, high-quality suppliers.
At the event, Yang Xubo, deputy director and member of the Party Leadership Group of the Hongqiao International Central Business District Administrative Committee, delivered a speech emphasizing the commitment to an enterprise-demand-oriented approach. He highlighted the goal of building an innovative open model of "Yangtze River Delta manufacturing + Hongqiao services + international market" to create a full-chain service platform supporting the global expansion of Yangtze River Delta enterprises.
Hou Ye, general manager of Alibaba.com's East China Region, noted that merchants in eastern China are accelerating their expansion into the European market by leveraging core advantages in "3C+1S" (manufacturing capability, compliance capability, certainty in delivery, and sustainability). Currently, more than 17,000 merchants in the region offer flexible customization capabilities, and trade volume with Europe reached US$330 million in the past six months alone, reflecting strong growth potential in China-EU cooperation.
Leveraging the radiating effect of the Hongqiao International Open Hub's "one core, two belts" strategy, Changning continues to develop an integrated corporate global expansion headquarters cluster, focusing on four key areas: industrial clustering, aviation logistics, international business expansion, and professional services. This effort strongly enhances the global competitiveness of local enterprises. The Shanghai Enterprise Global Expansion Integrated Service Platform (Changning Sub-Platform) will continue to focus on cross-border e-commerce and full-chain trade services, actively bridging connections between Yangtze River Delta enterprises and international buyers, and facilitating precise matching between East China suppliers and European buyers.
