Recently, the 2025 Shanghai Foreign-Invested Enterprises ESG Report and Case Release Conference was held at the Xijiao State Guest Hotel. Government department leaders, experts, and representatives from foreign-invested enterprises gathered to discuss the local practices and global coordination of sustainability disclosure by foreign enterprises. Ten companies, including Uni-President Enterprises (China) Investment Co., Ltd., received awards for the "2025 Shanghai Foreign-Invested Enterprises Outstanding ESG Reports."

In 2024, the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association released the first Outstanding ESG Reports of Shanghai Multinational Regional Headquarters. In August this year, the association publicly solicited China ESG reports released by foreign-invested enterprises in Shanghai for the 2024–2025 period, as well as China ESG cases from sustainability-related reports published by global headquarters. Following the collection, screening, and evaluation process, the outstanding ESG reports and cases of Shanghai foreign-invested enterprises for 2025 were announced at the conference. Ten companies, including Uni-President Enterprises (China) Investment Co., Ltd., were awarded the "2025 Shanghai Foreign-Invested Enterprises Outstanding ESG Reports," while eight companies were selected for the "2025 Shanghai Foreign-Invested Enterprises Outstanding ESG Cases."

To continuously, deeply, and systematically empower the ESG capacity building of foreign-invested enterprises, the ESG Subcommittee for Multinational Regional Headquarters of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association officially initiated the establishment of the Professional Committee for Foreign-Invested Enterprises ESG Reporting. Twelve ESG officials from foreign-invested enterprises were appointed as members of the committee.
During the conference, keynote speeches were delivered on topics such as "Analysis of 2025 Shanghai Foreign-Invested Enterprises ESG Reports" and "Harmonizing International Standards and Domestic Guidelines for Sustainability Disclosure." In the panel discussion, guests explored the topic of "How Sustainability Disclosure Can Effectively Tell the 'China Story' of Foreign-Invested Enterprises."

Since the Municipal Commerce Commission formulated and issued the Three-Year Action Plan for Accelerating the ESG Capacity Building of Foreign-Related Enterprises in Shanghai (2024-2026) in March 2024, Shanghai has taken firm and practical steps in promoting ESG and sustainable development. The standardization of governance and transparency of disclosure among Shanghai's foreign-related enterprises have significantly improved. In the future, Shanghai will continue to refine its policy system and services, transforming ESG from a compliance requirement into an engine for innovation and competitiveness, thereby supporting the sustainable development of foreign-invested enterprises.
The Hongqiao Business District emphasizes building an ESG ecosystem. Through policy support, platform empowerment, and leveraging the exemplary role of foreign-invested enterprises, it deeply integrates ESG concepts into the development of the open hub. The ESG practices of numerous foreign companies here have been transformed into global case studies, contributing the "Hongqiao Solution" to global sustainable development.
Changning District has consistently promoted the deep integration of ESG concepts into regional development by constructing policy and action frameworks, stimulating corporate innovation, and building international cooperation platforms. In the future, it will continue to act as a "partner" in ESG development, working with all stakeholders to build a green future.
The conference was guided by the Municipal Commerce Commission, the Administrative Committee of the Hongqiao Business District, and the Changning District Government, and co-hosted by the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association and the District Commerce Commission. He Dongbin, deputy director of the Municipal Commerce Commission; Wang Xin, deputy director of the Administrative Committee of the Hongqiao Business District; and Zhao Yongzun, deputy director of Changning District, attended and delivered speeches.
