Main structure topped out for renovated Shanghai International Gymnastics Center 发布时间:2026-02-13 信息来源:上海长宁
On February 4, the overall renovation project of the Shanghai International Gymnastics Center achieved a critical milestone—the integrated steel lattice shell curtain wall with skylight was successfully lifted into place and reached its designed elevation. This marks the topping-out of the project's main structure, representing a solid step forward toward the completion goal.

The integrated structure, weighing 252 tons with a diameter of 45 meters and covering approximately 1,600 square meters, was one of the core technical challenges of the project. Building on the experience gained from the earlier "on-site ground assembly + integral hydraulic lifting" method used for the truss layer, the team broke through the traditional step-by-step construction approach. They innovatively adopted a process where the steel lattice shell curtain wall was assembled integrally on the ground and then lifted in a single systematic operation. According to the constructor, this method significantly reduces conflicts from cross-operations, lowers construction safety risks, notably saves costs on temporary facility building, and improves overall construction efficiency, offering advantages in being efficient, energy-saving, and safe.

Recently, progress on the Shanghai International Gymnastics Center renovation has been steadily advancing. The integral lifting of the super-large-span steel truss layer commenced on November 11, 2025, and the main steel structure work was completed in December 2025. The project has now entered the curtain wall installation phase. Moving forward, the project team will focus on high-quality construction objectives, continue to advance subsequent tasks, ensure orderly project progress, and strive to deliver a modern sports venue that blends contemporary style with collective memory for the public as soon as possible.
