With the successful conclusion of the 2026 Autumn/Winter Shanghai Fashion Week, an in-depth dialogue focusing on the future of the industry has unfolded. Recently, Changning District organized a Shanghai Fashion Week brand communication meeting to precisely connect with outstanding brands that emerged during the fashion week, building a bridge between the government and enterprises to jointly discuss the future development of Changning’s fashion consumption industry.

Listening to enterprises’ voices, responding precisely to development needs

At the communication meeting, brand representatives from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing, Shenzhen and other cities enthusiastically spoke up, sharing the core development needs of their brands.

“We want to be seen by more people!” Brands generally expressed a desire for more diversified exposure channels, such as inviting mainstream KOLs and professional buyers to participate, and using short videos, images and text to tell brand stories, in order to break consumers’ entrenched perceptions of “domestic products” and enhance brand value.

Regarding exhibition and offline spaces, designers suggested that they should be more artistic and visually impactful, avoiding an “old-fashioned” booth feel. At the same time, they hope to use immersive experiences such as interactive installations to allow consumers to more intuitively understand the craftsmanship details and cultural connotations behind the clothing.

Many brands expressed a willingness to co-organize public welfare activities with the government, such as combining themes of intangible cultural heritage and environmental protection, to enhance their social value and public appeal. Some designers proposed that in the early stages of brand establishment, they hope to have low-cost offline display spaces and channels to communicate with consumers, in order to reduce trial-and-error costs.

Leveraging regional advantages, providing full-process services

In response to the needs raised by the brands, the District Commerce Commission responded at the meeting and detailed Changning’s unique advantages and support policies.

As the east engine of the Greater Hongqiao area and the west gateway to the metropolis, Changning District boasts distinctive export-oriented economic characteristics and is one of the birthplaces of China’s fashion consumption industry.

To support emerging original brands, Changning District will provide full-process services covering business registration, venue matching, and financing consultation. The District Commerce Commission highlighted plans to create a “testing ground” for the fashion consumption industry, offering designers low-cost, high-exposure offline display spaces to help brands grow in real market conditions, and introduced special support policies for the fashion consumption industry to provide solid guarantees for eligible brands.

Through proactive outreach and precise matching, Changning District is transforming the spillover effects of Shanghai Fashion Week into real momentum for industrial development, accelerating the construction of a new fashion consumption industry ecosystem guided by the government, led by enterprises, and operated by the market.

As the core platform of Shanghai Fashion Week’s “Asia’s Largest Ordering Season,” the 2026 Autumn/Winter MODE Shanghai Fashion Trade Show was held from March 25 to 29 at the new landmark Crystal Bridge in Changning District. Under the theme “Wonderland • New Structure,” this edition of the MODE show brought together many local original forces such as Baoget, Youguan, Zuozhuo, Zaiwo, presenting a diverse landscape where cultural reflection, substantial wearability, and cutting-edge practice coexist.

It is reported that buyers at this MODE show covered multiple regions at home and abroad, with about 70% of channels combining online and offline operations. The 1,000–3,000 yuan price range was the most active ordering bracket, accounting for about 49%. Strong on-site signings and intentions demonstrated robust commercial conversion capabilities.

Many emerging brands also received definite orders or in-depth negotiations.

During the exhibition, the District Commerce Commission proactively provided services and conducted in-depth exchanges with many exhibiting brands. Through this international platform of Fashion Week, Changning District successfully screened out a number of high-quality enterprises with both commercial potential and design strength. These brands generally expressed a strong willingness to seek brand establishment and market expansion in Shanghai. Their development needs are highly aligned with Changning District’s strategic plan to build a highland for the fashion consumption industry.
