The 2026 “Made in Shanghai” event, a high‑level matchmaking platform for Shanghai’s fashion consumer goods industry, kicked off on June 9, unveiling the city’s new three‑year action plan for high‑quality development of the fashion consumer goods industry from 2026 to 2028.

The new action plan comprehensively charts a course for accelerating the high‑quality development of Shanghai’s fashion consumer goods industry, focusing on three major dimensions: enhancing high‑quality supply, building an innovation ecosystem, and creating a synergy of industrial safeguards.

At the launching ceremony, eight key projects in the fashion consumer goods sector were unveiled. They include the Hempel China Fashion Industry Innovation Center in Changning, as well as the Icicle fashion accessories project, the CHICMAX Technology Park smart factory, the Jingrong Seamless Apparel Center, the Snow Bear Maternal & Baby Appliances’ new smart factory, the Öarmilk Dairy new factory, the Yeswood smart home production and auxiliary building, and the Xinghe Yuanjie trendy toy IP industrial base.

The 2026 “Fashion Shanghai” Innovative Product Directory was also unveiled on site. A total of 24 innovative products with distinctive characteristics of Shanghai brands and intelligent manufacturing were selected, showcasing the innovative achievements of local brands from R&D to market launch.

Changning District concurrently released its “Fashion Changning • Joyful Consumption” three‑year action plan (2026–2028), establishing the district’s fashion consumption identity with “global trends” as its strategic core and “China‑chic light luxury” as its development signature.

To further tap into the innovation potential of Chinese consumer brands, Shanghai will also host the 2026 China Consumer Brands Industry Innovation Competition, which is themed on empowering the industrial innovation of consumer goods through artificial intelligence.

A romantic summer encounter on Suzhou Creek path

A quiet romance is unfolding along the East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) section of the Suzhou Creek path, where century-old buildings and blossoming hydrangeas have come together in a poetic summer embrace.

2.jpg

Under dark, vintage brick walls, clusters of pink hydrangeas are in full, vibrant bloom. Plump and lively, their round flower heads cluster closely together, creating a striking contrast against the solemn, deep-toned bricks. It’s a moment where timeworn elegance and youthful brightness merge, as if time itself has gently tucked its softness into this very corner.

Before a wall of bluish-gray brick, soft lilac hydrangeas bloom with quiet tenderness. Each round blossom is made up of countless tiny pale-purple florets, their petal edges tinged with light pink. Here, the somber charm of old architecture and the vivid grace of nature intertwine.

Nearby, a stately red-brick European-style building stands in silence. Its arched red-brick windows and dark mullions exude a refined vintage character. At its foot, the hydrangeas sway gently in the breeze like a little girl’s billowing tulle skirt.

If you, too, long to capture a touch of summer romance, take a stroll along the ECUPL section of the Suzhou Creek path. It’s a moment of beauty waiting just around the corner.

Changning showcases green industry achievements at Shanghai Carbon Neutrality Expo

A group of high-quality enterprises committed to low-carbon development from Changning District showcased their green industry achievements at the 2026 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo, which kicked off on June 10 for a three-day run.

In recent years, Changning has integrated low-carbon innovation into industrial development, urban construction, and public services. At this year’s expo, the Changning exhibition zone focused on the biomanufacturing and sustainable consumption industry chains, bringing together key companies such as Bosch, Ingka Group, and Asia Pulp & Paper.

In the industrial low-carbon sector, Bosch presented carbon reduction solutions for smart mobility and industrial technologies. Asia Pulp & Paper upheld its "forest-pulp-paper integration" concept, leading the paper industry’s green transformation through carbon sequestration at the source and zero-carbon products. Staples, leveraging its digital platform, offered one-stop low-carbon procurement services to support green transitions for government and enterprises.

On the consumer goods side, low-carbon concepts are permeating daily life. Chagee, a tea beverage brand, practices a "farm-to-cup" philosophy by turning tea waste into organic fertilizer and using degradable packaging, setting a green example for the tea drink industry. Ingka Group, through its Ikea and Livat brands, continues to advance the circular economy through green operations and sustainable consumption guidance. G-COVE focuses on replacing single-use plastics; DEYA produces carbon-neutral products from recycled ocean waste; and Abacell creates biodegradable textiles from abaca fiber. Roostone, through thematic salons, focuses on green fashion and supply chain innovation, building an industry exchange platform.

An official from the District Development and Reform Commission said that in the future, Changning will continue to focus on zero-carbon development, expand the green industry cluster, deepen low-carbon innovation, and strive to become a model urban area for green transformation.

The event offers citizens and visitors a brand-new urban experience that blends culture, tourism, sports, and commerce, featuring a night economy market, trendy esports, public sports activities, and lifestyle retail.

The carnival closely aligns with World Cup excitement and the summer consumption vitality of the "Shanghai Summer" initiative. Adopting a "sports + entertainment + consumption" model, its core highlights include two night economy carnivals, three official esports tournaments, and multiple licensed national team merchandise and store promotions.

Along the "Star Avenue" of Bailian Xijiao, dozens of booths make up the World Cup night economy market. Local sportswear brands offer hands-on experiences with their latest gear, alongside craft stalls, jewelry and fragrance booths, and a food zone.

The market runs until July 12, open every Friday through Sunday. On July 5 and July 11, Bailian Xijiao will host special Shenhua FC fan days, featuring interactive online screen recordings and commentary from players.

Bailian Group has introduced licensed tournaments for FC Online and FC Mobile, creating a full-cycle competitive experience from qualifiers to finals. From June 19 to 20, the World Summit Open Qualifiers will tip off in the atrium of Bailian Xijiao.

From July 14 to 16, the FC Pro League Summer will land at No. 1 Department Store on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, where top domestic professional teams will compete in a thrilling showdown. From July 17 to 19, the FC Esports World Summit Final will conclude the event, crowning the ultimate champion.

In addition, licensed elements from multiple national team jerseys and player images, authorized by Tencent Esports, can be seen throughout the shopping center, creating a strong World Cup atmosphere.

"By combining football passion with nighttime consumption, we aim to energize fan communities and bring a vibrant, lively spirit to Shanghai’s summer nights," said a manager of Bailian Group.

Shanghai’s pioneering maker space Suhehui builds innovative model to nurture SMEs

The fifth stop in our series on “Changning’s Incubator Development” takes us to Suhehui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Base, the city’s first maker space and a fertile ground for small and medium‑sized enterprises.

5.jpg

Founded in 2012 as the first enterprise in Shanghai to operate under the name “maker space,” Suhehui has always resonated with the needs of SMEs. As of May 2026, the park has incubated more than 10,000 enterprises, served over 1,000 companies in the e‑commerce sector, and nurtured over 100 brands each worth hundreds of millions of yuan, establishing a unique “space + ecosystem + digital” three‑in‑one growth system in Changning.

Recognizing that small businesses need a platform that sparks innovation and connects resources, Suhehui has created the Qingshe Space, offering one‑stop solutions for e‑commerce, digital tech, and asset‑light growth enterprises.

According to Du Juan, operations director of Suhehui, Qingshe Space adopts an internet‑based operational model, providing fully furnished, ready‑to‑move‑in offices. Live‑streaming rooms, meeting rooms, and roadshow halls are all free to use, and the flexible, divisible layouts combined with smart management systems accommodate diverse needs – from small startup teams to growing companies with dozens of employees.

The park has also established an expert pool covering six key areas: e‑commerce operations, digital technology, financial compliance, policy application, legal risk control, and investment and financing. These experts provide targeted services tailored to enterprises at different stages of growth.

Since being named one of the first e‑commerce pilot parks, Suhehui has gathered a number of leading e‑commerce companies. It independently developed the Zhuamu ERP system, which integrates business and financial management. This system not only solves internal management challenges but also serves as a key digital link connecting the entire park ecosystem.

Currently, all e‑commerce enterprises based in Suhehui have adopted the Zhuamu ERP system. The system will continue to evolve, keeping pace with new business models and regulatory changes in the e‑commerce industry.
