Hongfang International Cultural and Art Community is formed from a factory building of the former Steel Mill, under Shanghai No. 10 Steel Works, having retained the inherent historical texture of the old industrial architecture and preserved its original ecological sense. After some detailed treatment to the ventilation system and safety facilities, the old space and the new space are well combined, intermingled and transferred. Walking around Hongfang International Cultural and Art Community, one may observe the original red-brick exterior walls, recall the lasting appeal of the vicissitudes of those years of industrial civilization, and feel the intermingling of the gentle pulse of history and the fresh blood of the custom today.
Hongfang International Cultural and Art Community has grouped together many innovative design companies and professionals, and cultivated itself into an integrated cultural center. With Shanghai City Sculpture Art Center as its main body, Hongfang International Cultural and Art Community provides a flexible application of space, including a multi-functional conference area, a large activity and art exhibition hall, and a multi-purpose innovation site.
