‘First stores’ to boost sales

The total number of “first stores” launched in Changning District has exceeded 50 since the beginning of this year, ranking in the forefront among all the districts of the city. The “first stores” are mainly in the businesses of catering, retail and entertainment.

The so-called “first-store economy” is a type of real economy measured by the launch of leading industrial and fashion brands that open their “first store” in specific areas.

The definition also includes the launch of traditional brands’ flagship or experiential stores that operate under an innovative model.

Scenic spots ‘walk’ out of park together with improved traffic

Between gate 2 and gate 3 of Zhongshan Park, except for the British style country villas, the entire wall along Wanhangdu Road will be removed. At that time, famous scenic spots such as centennial sycamore and British garden gate, which were originally in Zhongshan Park, will “walk” out of the park with the demolition of the wall.

Zhongshan Park was formerly known as Jessfield Park. The original main gate of the park was opened on Wanhangdu Road, which is now gate 2. The East China University of Political Science and Law is on the opposite, next to the terminal of Bus No. 20.

A square is being built around the area between gate 2 of Zhongshan Park and the entrance of The East China University of Political Science and Law. The British style building of gate 2 will be reconstructed and preserved together with the renovation of the terminal of Bus No.20.

Taking advantage of the “opening” of the park, the section of Wanhangdu Road will also be reconstructed this time for the convenience of pedestrians and drivers.

Hosted by Shanghai Children's Foundation and Shanghai Education Development Foundation, the exhibition features more than 100 artworks created by children from 20 countries, including China, Japan, US and France.

This year’s exhibition theme, “A Whole New Fairy Tale,” aims to encourage children to unveil “their own fairy tale world” through various art forms.

Visitors will be impressed by the imagination and creativity of the works. For example, the work “Hunting Stars on a Dragon,” created by Sophie Ilg and Mira Ilg from Germany, depicts a pure wonderland of the universe.

The exhibition spotlight focuses on a special section dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). It features a cluster of electronic copies of his manuscripts and illustrations plus 3D-prints of his paper-cuts.

Andersen created 168 fairy tales and stories through his writing life. Visitors can inspect the manuscripts of his works “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “The Little Mermaid” at the exhibition.

Andersen’s fairy tales are renowned for the author’s strong humanistic touch on the suffering of the working class and children who lived with pain. The section also introduces his achievements in paper-cuts.
