Sister-city photo exhibition on at Shanghai Art Museum

 “A Tale of Two Cities: Photo Exhibition from Shanghai to Alexandria” opened at Shanghai Art Museum in Changning District on December 3, seeking to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Shanghai and Alexandria, Egypt.

 

Lasting until December 31, the exhibition displays nearly 100 photographic works, which will provide the audience a panoramic view of the landmark architecture, culture and art, natural style and lifestyle of Shanghai and Alexandria.

 

In the exhibition hall, photography works from densely populated Shanghai to Alexandria Port, from the towering Oriental Pearl TV Tower to the ancient Alexandria Lighthouse, vividly show the architectural attractions, urban development, social phenomena, people’s lives of Shanghai and Alexandria, as well as the amazing changes in the two cities in recent years.

 

Located at the mouth of the Yangtze River and facing the Pacific Ocean, Shanghai, the “Pearl of the Orient”, is one of the cities with the most active economic development, the highest degree of openness, and the strongest innovation ability in China. It is also a world-class economic, financial, trade, and shipping center.

 

Alexandria, known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”, is a famous city with a history of more than 2,300 years, with precious historical sites and unique customs.

 

Since 1992, when Shanghai and Alexandria became sister cities, the two sides have carried out fruitful cooperation in economic, cultural, educational and other fields and forged a profound friendship.

 

The exhibition is hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office and the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government; organized by Shanghai Art Museum; and strongly supported by the Consulate General of China in Alexandria, the Consulate General of Egypt in Shanghai, the Alexandria Library, Alexandria University, and other units.
