Having lived in Shanghai for 13 years, Koichi Matsumoto speaks Chinese fluently. He also processes deep feelings with the city. Not long ago, Matsumoto was honored with the Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award of the year.
As chairman and chief executive officer of Yamato International Logistics Co Ltd, Matsumoto has long been an important participant in the development and innovation of the century-old Japanese logistics group in China and its reform and transformation.
In 2005, he was sent to Shanghai by the company. In the following eight years, he fell in love with Shanghai. In 2017, as chairman and chief executive officer of Yamato International Logistics Co Ltd, he returned to Shanghai, and continued to actively participate in trade and shipping.
It was also in this year that Matsumoto started a drastic reform in the company. Soon, he turned the company profitable, even in the face of the impact of the pandemic.
He also moved the company’s registered address from Guangzhou to Shanghai.
Having lived in Shanghai for many years, Matsumoto built a solid bridge for people-to-people connectivity between the two nations.
He led his staff to Japanese school near the company to explain Chinese traffic regulations to children, so that children could pay attention to traffic etiquette from childhood and avoid traffic accidents caused by ignorance of traffic regulations.
This activity is very popular with Japanese teachers and students. This year, he plans to visit more kindergartens and primary schools around to let more children participate in the activity.
Within the company, he always personally participated in planning various corporate cultural activities, such as various sports meetings and outreach training.
Sometimes, he also personally taught employees to learn Japanese, financial knowledge and experience in logistics management. Gradually, more and more young people have joined Yamato’s team while the company's cultural construction is making a great progress.
Smarter way to travel
Shanghai MaaS Green Travel Integrated Service Platform was among the 15 excellent cases of typical application scenarios of data elements in 2022 released by the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center.
The platform was officially launched on October 10 this year, and now covers 20 rail transit (including maglev), more than 1,560 ground buses and full line ferries throughout the city, providing full link travel services.
The app can realize the integration of codes of different traffic forms, so that citizens can get rid of switching between different travel applications and experience the one-stop seamless travel service of subway, bus and ferry.
On the basis of rich MaaS data information and in combination with users’ travel habits, the intelligent travel planning function can recommend the most appropriate customized travel scheme, such as “subway plus bus,” “subway plus cycling” and other combination modes, and can also be arranged and displayed in “short time,” “low cost” and other options according to users’ preferences to help users make “smarter” travel decisions.
