Construction for the project on plot II-P-04, located in the east area of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport in the Hongqiao International Central Business District, has kicked off and is scheduled to be completed by November 2025.
According to a prediction by SPS Aviation Consulting Co, with the growth of international passengers in the future, the T1 terminal at Hongqiao airport will face a series of problems such as insufficient parking space, as well as limited airside space and logistics service space.
Plot II-P-04 at the T1 terminal of the Shanghai Hongqiao Linkong Economic Demonstration Zone is a project that began during “the 14th Five-Year Plan” of the Airport Group, with a total investment of about 2.5 billion yuan (US$373 million). The total building area is 93,660 square meters, with eight floors above the ground and three floors underground.
As the only path between the subway and the terminal, the project has created and reserved seven external interfaces, which are connected with the T1 terminal, the subway station of Line 10, and the traffic center, and reserved the connection with the M2 plot project, ensuring convenience for passengers to transfer between the subway and the terminal.
As the first project to be launched in the south business office area, the main functions of the II-P-04 plot are business and office. In order to enhance its development value, the project uses the concept of double first floors, fully excavates the commercial value of the podium roof, sets up the office building air lobby, and uses the third floor as the roof drop-off and parking area, significantly improving the quality of the office building.
As the air-land terminal block in the east area of Hongqiao airport, the construction of II-P-04 plot will not only sets up a connection between subway, commerce and terminal building, but will also create a new TOD model (public transport-oriented development), and contribute to the area’s future development and the aviation sector.
