Construction of a commercial complex on the east side of the Hongqiao International Airport started at the beginning of the new year to solve a series of problems such as insufficient parking space for traveling passengers, the urgent need to expand the space on the east side and insufficient logistics service space. 

The complex, expected to be completed in 2025, will link the Terminal 1 of Hongqiao International Airport, Metro Line 10 and the Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub.

With a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan (US$369 million) and total building area of 93,660 square meters, the complex consisting of a shopping mall and several office buildings will have eight floors above the ground and three floors beneath.

At the same time, it will adopt drainage management, vertical and roof greening and photovoltaic power generation to go green and set an example of TOD mode (public transport-oriented development).

 

IFF sets up operations in Linkong

A Fortune Global 500 company the IFF Group has moved in the International Business Park in Linkong Economic Demonstration Zone.

A B2B multinational conglomerate, IFF owns an industry leading independent research and development center for aroma and taste, as well as four departments of nutrition, health and life science, essence and fragrance and pharmacy.

The IFF Group has acquired BBA (UK), France Resources (Germany), Lucasmeyer (Canada), Frutarom (Israel), DuPont Nutrition and Biological Sciences (NB) businesses, including Danisco (Denmark) and FMC (USA) in recent years and has developed new businesses such as natural probiotics, enzyme preparations, pharmaceutical excipients, cosmetic activators, etc.

The health and life sciences department is the main force of IFF to settle in the International Business Park. Cai Zhiqiang, general manager of IFF (China), said that rather than considering policy support and government subsidies, it was more concerned with the infrastructure of Linkong Economic Demonstration Zone and its ability to manage supporting services.

 

Livat Linkong near completion

With the last main steel beam in place, the main steel structure of the Livat Linkong shopping center in Xinjing Town was successfully capped. 

The Livat Linkong is the fifth Livat mall in the country. With eight floors above the ground and four below, the commercial complex will have nearly 440,000 square meters of total space and is expected to open in 2024.

Bounded by Fuquan Road, Jinzhong Road, Xiehe Road and Beidi Road, the future megamall will set up around 300 fashion, catering and entertainment shops from around the world and home the fourth IKEA outlet in the city. It will have more than 2,700 parking spaces.

Functioning as a commercial hub, the complex will connect the south and north parts of the Linkong Industrial Zone as well as the Lingkong SOHO to the west. 

Apart from being a shopping mall, it will also house a service apartment, a hotel and office space.

Underground corridors will link the Livat center with major buildings of Linkong and the Metro Songhong Road Station. 

 

‘First store’ boosts district business development

There were 115 new stores opened in Changning last year, an increase of 32.2 percent over 2021 and the city’s share by 2.6 percentage points during the same period, which was top-ranking in the city. 

Changning’s first stores mainly involve catering, retail, entertainment and leisure. Last December, the number of new first stores in Changning reached 15, of which 13 were in the catering business and one new first store was added in the retail business and entertainment business respectively.

During the past year, Changning has made a deep layout of the first store economy and actively built a characteristic urban area of Shanghai as an international shopping center.

In the next stage, Changning will continue to focus on the upgrading of the business form of municipal and district commercial circles and attract the first store, flagship store and concept store of prestigious brands.

It will help promote the introduction of a number of emerging commercial entities, create new shopping landmarks and build a well-known consumer business district.

It will continue to give full play to the advantages of the district as the “demonstration area for the first launch of global new products,” hold iconic IP activities such as “Fashion Customization Week,” and make full use of important nodes to carry out shopping promotion activities to release potential.
