Transforming the past, building for the future

The creative and fashionable living space "FICS Xinhua 365," a renovation project in the Science and Technology Park of Donghua University, will begin the trial operation on Friday.

At that time, "FICS Xinhua 365" will hold a 10-day market to welcome the New Year and three cross-border art exhibitions, providing high-quality public art and cultural experience for local residents.

A hundred years ago, Asia Realty Company developed farmland and built new roads here, laying the main tone of innovation for Xinhua Road. Celebrities such as Ma Xiangbo, the founder of Fudan University, Dong Zhuojun, the founder of Jinjiang Hotel, and Jin Runxiang, a paper businessman, gathered here, gradually forming a unique Shanghai culture.

In 1956, the Glass Enamel Institute was established on Xinhua Road, which was full of French style. Over the next 60 years, scientific research offices, laboratories, factories, warehouses and student dormitories were successively built.

In order to retain the original charm of the area and add new vitality, Donghua University took the lead in April to promote the "FICS Xinhua 365" project, connecting the past, the present and the future.

The project will transform the enclosed science and technology park into an open public community and strive to upgrade from a century-old heritage to a Shanghai cultural landmark, focusing on the industries of digital, green and art.

After the completion of the project, "FICS Xinhua 365" will not only cover creative workspaces in multiple fields such as digital technology, cultural creativity, financial investment and research-based education, but also provide rich fashion consumption experiences for citizens, injecting youthful vitality into the historical and cultural style area of Xinhua Road with a history of a hundred years.
