The eighth Changning District Games opened at Hongqiao Sports Park on Sunday.
District Party Secretary Zhang Wei declared the opening of the eighth Changning District Games and the second Changning Sports Festival.
At the event, several initiatives were launched simultaneously: the Changning District sports fitness map, the Changning District child-friendly green spaces map and a program offering free sports and fitness services to 100,000 people.
In recent years, Changning District has aimed to create a "15-minute sports living circle" and has promoted a balanced distribution of sports facilities across the "inner-middle-outer" rings, providing more convenient fitness services to the public.
Following the opening ceremony, the one mile speed race, the child-friendly family orienteering race and the Changning District youth swimming standards competition commenced simultaneously.
In the Changning Outer Ring ecological greenway, over a hundred participants competed on Shanghai's first one mile speed race track, striving for personal bests and showcasing the unique charm of this sport that perfectly combines speed and endurance.
The child-friendly family orienteering race attracted 400 families, totaling 1,200 participants, who enjoyed the fun of hiking and eco-friendly games together.
The youth swimming standards competition took place at the Mercury Swimming Pool located in the sunken plaza of Hongqiao Sports Park.
The eighth Changning District Games is the largest and most participatory comprehensive sports event in the district. To allow citizens attending the opening ceremony to experience the joy and charm of sports, ten sports experience projects and six fun activity experiences were set up at the venue.
