University students of Chinese origin explore city's culture and history at summer camp

On July 13, 32 students who attend the Overseas Chinese University Students Summer Camp visited Sun Ke Villa and Tsutaya Bookstore at the Columbia Circle and went to the Shanghai Film Museum to experience the historical changes and cultural heritage of Shanghai.
In the morning, the university students of Chinese origin entered the Columbia Circle, where they visited the "Borges' Garden" art exhibition. There, they discovered a new world of visual art through collage artworks and experienced the charm of the Hudec-designed garden residential-style architecture. At the same time, the students also visited the Baroque-style Tsutaya Bookstore, experiencing the organic integration of urban renewal and cultural heritage in China.
In the afternoon, the students stepped into the Shanghai Film Museum, moving through the shooting scenes of classic films and appreciating the precious materials that carry the history of cinema. They gained a deep understanding of the century-long development of Shanghai's film industry and its glorious achievements, feeling the historical depth of Chinese culture amidst the interplay of light and shadow.
This summer camp session runs from July 1 to 28 in Shanghai. The Shanghai Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Municipal Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese invited 36 university students of Chinese origin from eight countries to intern at 28 enterprises in Shanghai, including Westwell Technology, Spring Tour and Chailease International in Changning District, and to participate in summer camp visiting and exchange activities.
Next, the students participating in this summer camp will also attend an internship program sharing session organized by the Municipal Chinese Overseas Friendship Association for young students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese, and they plan to visit the Changning Intangible Cultural Heritage Center to closely experience the historical and cultural connotations of traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage projects.
