2024/07/30

In the early hours of July 30, Beijing time, Changning's athlete Tang Qianting clinched the silver medal in the women's 100m breaststroke at the Paris Olympics with a time of 1 minute and 5.54 seconds.

"She performed exceptionally well, and we are very satisfied!" While Tang was competing fiercely in Paris, her parents and family watched the entire event live. Reflecting on her second-place finish, her mother, Tang Ruiyu, remarked. "Actually, she was under quite a bit of pressure during this competition, but it was evident that she was progressively improving throughout the event. From the heats to the semifinals, and then the finals, she continuously adjusted her condition. We hope she maintains this form and achieves good results in the upcoming relay races together with the other girls."

"This is her second time competing in the Olympics. This achievement is not the end for her but a new beginning. She has a long sporting career ahead of her, and we hope she continues to strive and bring glory to our country," her father Qian Weihai said.

"In this competition, we saw Tang Qianting's fighting spirit. This medal is not only a personal achievement but also a glory for all of us in sports. It symbolizes the spirit of our team and our pursuit of excellence," said Zhang Qiong, Tang Qianting's childhood coach, in a post-race interview. "She possesses the qualities of an outstanding athlete, being very diligent and having a strong mental fortitude. Whether in daily training or in major competitions, she always displays a tenacious spirit that refuses to admit defeat."
