In the early hours of August 5, Beijing time, the final day of the swimming events at the Paris Olympics, Changning's swimmer Tang Qianting, along with her teammates Wan Letian, Zhang Yufei and Yang Junxuan, clinched the bronze medal with a time of 3 minutes and 53.23 seconds in the women's 4x100m medley relay.
This was Tang's second appearance at the Olympics. Having narrowly missed the podium at the previous Tokyo Olympics, she did not disappoint this time, securing two silver medals in the women's 100m breaststroke and the mixed 4x100m medley relay, and a bronze in the women's 4x100m medley relay.
Born in 2004, Tang attended Tongxin Kindergarten, Xinhongqiao Primary School and Shanghai Kaiyuan School successively. She began swimming classes at the Changning District Swimming School in Shanghai in 2009, joined the Shanghai team in 2017, and made it to the national team in 2020.
"After training her for a year, I felt that she was not just excellent, but exceptionally so. She has the talent to stand on the podium at world competitions," Tang's first coach, Zhang Qiong, shared with reporters. "Except for the first two days of the Lunar New Year, she trains every day of the year, and I've never seen her miss a class."
At just 20 years old, Tang has a promising sports career ahead of her. Paris is merely a new starting point; next up are Los Angeles and many more world championships. We look forward to Tang holding on to her original dreams and continuing to make waves in the pool!
