Enhanced accessibility: Songhong Road Station's exit 5 and Fuquan Road pedestrian underpass open

2024/09/19

Starting from September 18, Exit 5 of the Songhong Road Station on Metro Line 2 has been reopened.

Following closely, the Fuquan Road pedestrian underpass, which has completed its final inspection, was opened to the public on September 19.

The renovation has modified the original single upward-moving elevator into two elevators, one ascending and one descending, facilitating bi-directional traffic.

Located in the Hongqiao Linkong Economic Zone, the Fuquan Road pedestrian underpass stretches from the intersection of Fuquan Road and Jinzhong Road in the north, connecting to the second basement level of IKEA Livat, to the intersection of Fuquan Road and Tianshan Road W. in the south, leading to Exit 5 of the Songhong Road Station on Metro Line 2.

The underpass is about 280 meters long, with a width of 7.5 meters and a height of about 3 meters, making it the second longest rectangular pipe jacking project in Shanghai.

The Fuquan Road pedestrian underpass, having completed its final inspection, was opened to the public on September 19, and from September 26, it will provide direct access to IKEA Livat.

The completion of this underpass marks a significant development, allowing pedestrians to travel directly from the Songhong Road Metro Station through the underpass to the newly completed 440,000 square meter Livat complex, and continue westward to the already completed underground linkage tunnel to reach the Sky Bridge HQ Plaza.

In the near future, it will also extend northward to the North Linkong core area, including locations such as the Jiantao Commercial Plaza, IBP, and CIFI Hongqiao International.

Meanwhile, the completion of the Fuquan Road pedestrian underpass will significantly improve the surface traffic conditions, greatly alleviating pedestrian congestion on Fuquan Road during peak weekday hours.

As part of the public open space, this meticulously crafted underground passage will provide pedestrians with a comfortable, innovative and stylish transit experience.
