Experience the vibrant culture of graffiti at the Changning exhibition

2024/09/25

Shanghai A.F.A, an art space in Changning District, will host the first exhibition of the Graffiti Art Museum in China from October 1.

The exhibition, lasting three months, will gather influential graffiti artworks from around the world, offering a visual feast for the public. Citizens can experience over 100 famous graffiti pieces in a "one-stop" visit, immersing themselves in the vibrant and creative culture of graffiti.

The US-based Graffiti Art Museum is the only museum globally dedicated to graffiti art. It provides a platform for artists to express themselves and showcases works by both past and modern renowned graffiti artists. Over the years, this open-air museum has evolved into a vibrant and diverse community.

This exhibition is set in the ROJO Artspace of Shanghai A.F.A, originally the site of Shanghai Steel Factory No. 10, which carries the memories of a generation. After a renewal and upgrade, it has become a multifaceted space catering to various cultural and entertainment needs of the public.

During the exhibition, scenes typical of graffiti settings such as subway stations, skateboard parks, campuses and record stores will be recreated, creating an immersive exhibition atmosphere.

Prominent graffiti artists like JonOne and Vance, along with other leading figures from the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Graffiti Museum co-founder Alan Ket, will engage in live spray painting, using flat painting, thematic spaces and multimedia interactions.

Throughout the exhibition, a series of workshops will also be held, and limited edition collaborative merchandise will be launched, offering art enthusiasts hands-on experiences and opportunities to explore graffiti art.

Address: ROJO Space, Shanghai A.F.A, 570 Huaihai Road W.

Dates: October to December, 10amto 8pm
