A stroll through history: Changning's century-old streets

The city's Landscaping & City Appearance Bureau has selected 25 "beautiful block citywalk routes" across the city, with Wuyi Road and Yuyuan Road in Changning District making the list.

In the pleasant autumn weather, citizens can stroll along these century-old streets to experience the stories behind the architecture and witness the development achievements of the city's construction.

The Wuyi Road area spans about 0.82 square kilometers, enclosed by Yan’an Road W., Jiangsu Road, Anhua Road and Kaixuan Road. It focuses on urban renewal of key areas, steadily enhancing integrated management to transform Wuyi Road area into an internationally influential block that combines public services, urban renewal, cultural history and community governance.

In the block, Wuyi|MIX320 features popular eateries, fashion crossover salons and urban camping spaces. The park retains the architectural features of old factories while introducing many new brands, becoming a new fashion landmark in Shanghai.

WYSH cleverly blends classical and modern elements, showcasing Shanghai's rich historical and cultural heritage while maintaining an international fashion vibe.

The Yuyuan Road area, covering about 0.2 square kilometers, is enclosed by Zhenning Road, Yuyuan Road, Anxi Road, Xuanhua Road and Dongzhu'anbang Road, themed on "Art Yuyuan."

Chuangyi SPACE is a hub for fashion, creativity and trendy brands, ing with the overall regulations of the Yuyuan Road historic district and the requirements for building a fashion and creative industry cluster in Changning District. It injects new fashion culture elements into Yuyuan Road.

The Yuyuan Public Market serves as a new cultural space within the historic district and residential lanes of Yuyuan Road, preserving community services while introducing elements like fashion design and art exhibitions, allowing everyday life and art to coexist, share and integrate.

Originally the former residence of renowned Chinese writer Shi Zhecun, 1018 Yuyuan Road was later managed by the postal company. After renovations, the Yuyuan Department Store became a lifestyle experience store, combining a gallery, cultural and creative shops, trendy brand stores and a café.
