New transfer passage opens at Loushanguan Road Station
2025/01/02
According to Shentong Metro Group, the underground transfer passage connecting Loushanguan Road Station on Metro Lines 2 and 15 has been completed and officially opened on December 31.
With the passage in use, passengers will transfer underground, reducing the transfer time from about 15 minutes to about nine minutes.
Line 15 began operations in early 2021. Previously, transferring between Lines 2 and 15 at Loushanguan Road Station required exiting at Exit 5, walking east to re-enter at Exit 4 of Line 2, exposing passengers to weather conditions such as sun and rain, causing inconvenience.
Although the scale of the transfer passage project is smaller than that of constructing an entire station, it required rebuilding a metro passage between two operational stations, involving numerous specialties and complex coordination among various work teams. Construction units on site completed the project in 169 days, ahead of the original schedule.
The design of the transfer passage efficiently utilizes the existing space, ensuring that service facilities such as barrier-free elevators, air conditioning systems, and restrooms are equipped according to the latest standards within a passage averaging only about 10 meters in width.
To enhance passenger comfort and highlight the city's unique character, the station design draws inspiration from Shanghai's urban development, creating an immersive public art and cultural space. The design integrates commercial, leisure, and lifestyle elements of Tianshan Road and Loushanguan Road, combining local cultural environments and the aesthetic features of surrounding architecture. Contemporary art expressions and lighting techniques are used to create a modern, relaxing, and vibrant urban atmosphere.
Notice
Currently, due to ongoing commercial upgrades in the area connecting the Paris Printemps Tianshan Store with the transfer passage (expected to open in March 2025), the connection between the Loushanguan Road Station transfer passage and the mall is temporarily unavailable for entry and exit. During this period, passengers can access the mall through other entrances and exits at Loushanguan Road Station.
