Crystal Bridge, a large-scale complex project in Changning District, completed its structural capping on January 21.
The project has attracted an investment exceeding 8 billion yuan (US$1.1 billion) and its total construction area is expected to reach 250,000 square meters.
When fully completed by September and open to the public in May 2026, the architecture will emerge as another urban landmark in Changning District.
Crystal Bridge is situated at the intersection of Tianshan and Gubei roads.
Tishman Speyer, a leading global real estate developer, is responsible for its development in collaboration with investment partners Xinchangning Group and Mitsubishi Estate.
The project includes 160,000 square meters of office space and nearly 30,000 square meters of commercial facilities.
It is designed by the renowned architectural firm NBBJ, with Mitsubishi Estate responsible for interior and landscape design.
According to Chen Zhichao, CEO of Tishman Speyer China, Crystal Bridge will feature its openness to the public.
For example, a 5,000-square-meter green belt around the site will invite residents for fitness and recreation. And an open-air sunken theater will host cultural performances and market events periodically.
Additionally, its underground space will connect with Metro Lines 2 and 15.
Huang Jiping, director of the Changning District Construction Management Committee, stated that Crystal Bridge will connect with the existing underground networks of the Hongqiao business district, providing direct access to commercial centers like Jinhongqiao and The Place.
Its strategic location also links it with the Zhongshan Park commercial complex in the east and the Western Airport Economic Demonstration Zone.
Chen expressed that Tishman Speyer is eager to act as an “ambassador” for Shanghai to attract innovative and internationally-minded enterprises to Crystal Bridge.
Upon completion, Crystal Bridge will focus on key industries in Changning, attracting outstanding performers from high-end manufacturing, TMT, fashion and new energy sectors.
