2025/04/01

Changning District released the nation's first district-level white paper on the youth-oriented economy on March 31.

The youth-oriented economy refers to the sum of economic activities that provide products or services targeting young people, are led by young entrepreneurs or operators, and encompass closely related industries. Currently, Changning has gathered leading enterprises and commercial ecosystems in sectors such as coffee, fragrances, milk tea, pets, wellness, and niche hobbies.

In his speech, District Director Liu Ping stated that the district is committed to building a city of hope for young people by actively promoting the development of the youth-oriented economy.

The district has incorporated the y"outh-oriented economy into its Version 8.0 business environment optimization plan and released Shanghai’s first 10 measures for supporting youth-oriented economic clusters to foster new business models in this sector. Changning has already cultivated popular youth-centric landmarks such as Yuyuan Road, Wuyi Road, and the Columbia Circle.

The Changning Youth-Oriented Economic Development Research White Paper was unveiled at the event. This handbook explores the definition and essence of the youth-oriented economy, identifies its development patterns, industry sectors, and future potential, and provides valuable insights for further promoting its prosperity.

The district also introduced a "Youth-Oriented Economy Certified Merchant accreditation system. Certified businesses will enjoy government policy support, investment and financing opportunities, one-on-one financial services, and promotional exposure on internet platforms.

The first five businesses to receive the "Youth-Oriented Economy Certified Merchant designation include: Pet&Fresh, a new retail brand for pet food; Tiao Hai Pub, a bar that secured millions in angel funding within five years of its founding; BananaFish Books, China’s first art and design bookstore; J.Prakash Restaurant, a wellness and light dining fusion brand created by a young returnee; Xiangye Baking, a community-focused cake brand.
