China's first 'Cool PINGU' pop-up store debuts at Changning shopping center

As one of the key events under the city's F"irst in Shanghai” initiative, The Place, a commercial complex in Changning District, has partnered with the heartwarming classic animation IP PINGU to unveil China's first Cool PINGU Convenience Store themed exhibition.

PINGU, the beloved penguin family originating from Switzerland, has captivated global audiences with its endearing characters and heartwarming stories. Drawing inspiration from convenience store settings, the exhibition features an immersive space that faithfully recreates scenes from the animation.

Located in the atrium on the first floor of The Place's South Zone, the installation presents a dreamy c"onvenience store adorned in PINGU's signature pink-and-blue color scheme.

The exhibition offers three immersive interactive zones packed with fun: the P"opcorn BoBo area, where PINGU waves cheerfully as children and adults alike play in a fantasy world of ball pits and giant slides, the PINGU Fishing Platform, which simulates a glacial environment, recreating the excitement of polar treasure hunting through interactive fishing games and the PINGU Igloo zone, where visitors can snap themed photo stickers to fulfill their personalized photography desires.

During the exhibition, over 50 debut merchandise items and more than 100 limited-edition products will be available, ranging from plush toys and creative desktop decorations to home essentials.

"Starting with PINGU, we aim to create immersive trend-driven consumption scenarios through IP-limited exhibitions this year, targeting younger consumers while bridging youth culture with social consumption. We want visitors of all ages to enjoy vibrant and playful new experiences, said Jiang Jinhong, deputy general manager of The Place.
