Changning District launches global talent recruitment drive

The Shanghai Hongqiao One-Stop Service Center for Overseas Talents announced a series of newly optimized services on June 11, marking the launch of Changning District’s global talent recruitment campaign.
The upgraded services include enhancements to three existing functions—employment and entrepreneurship support, social integration assistance, and online livestreaming—while introducing four new measures: a talent recognition program for Chinese professionals with foreign nationalities, agree n channel for work and residence permit medical checkups, direct access to the Hongqiao International Talent Service Center’s overseas talent platform, and streamlined communication services for expatriates. Additionally, the center released seven practical guides covering visa and immigration procedures, investment and entrepreneurship, city exploration, transit tourism, medical services, transportation, and pet care.
Notably, the green channel for work permit medical checkups, a pioneering initiative in Changning, allows overseas professionals to book appointments through the center. Upon completion, the center automatically retrieves medical reports for permit processing, significantly reducing wait times and administrative burdens.
Since its reopening on April 15, 2024, the Hongqiao talent center has served over1 10,000 visitors, including11,000 expatriates. To further streamline services, it has dedicated two social worker positions specifically for foreign nationals, ensuring efficient communication and support.
Aligned with these upgrades, Changning District launched its2 025 Global Talent Initiative, featuring events like theShanghai Global Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Changning Selection Competition(with a Hong Kong preliminary round), job-matching sessions for key enterprises, theHong Kong Students Changning Tour,and theGlobal Elite Recruitment Programto attract top-tier talent and innovative projects.
Addressing housing needs for overseas professionals, Changning also introduced at alent residency program, offeringup to three months of free accommodationfor those pursuing entrepreneurial ventures in Shanghai.
