International art exhibition weaves cultural exchange
2025/07/07
The 15th International Traditional Art Invitational Exhibition has commenced at the Shanghai Art Collection Museum, bringing together over 180 exceptional artworks from 38 countries. The exhibition offers visitors a cross-border cultural journey that celebrates the beauty of diverse traditions.
Stepping into the gallery is like embarking on a fascinating global art tour. The paintings and tapestries by Kyrgyz artists are imbued with rich regional charm, their vibrant colors resembling living landscapes. Many Central Asian artists showcase paintings with distinct ethnic styles, where ancient totems and unique decorative elements narrate the region’s profound history and culture. Meanwhile, sculptures from countries such as France and Spain, crafted from diverse materials, create enchanting spaces that blur the lines between reality and imagination.
The works by Chinese artists radiate the unique allure of Eastern art. Exquisite jade carvings embody the essence of traditional Chinese culture and the ingenuity of master artisans. The embroidery pieces dazzle with intricate stitches and brilliant hues, while the remarkably lifelike olive stone carvings astound viewers with their elaborate designs etched onto tiny kernels. Elegant ceramics, infused with classical charm, not only demonstrate the mastery of traditional craftsmanship but also incorporate contemporary design concepts in form and decoration.
Under the theme Appreciating the Beauty in Diversity, the exhibition is a key project under Shanghai’s municipal Shanghai Culture brand-building initiative and theShanghai traditional crafts manship revitalization plan. It also serves as a significant cultural exchange effort in line with the city’s promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative’s sister-city collaborations.
