Sweden’s beloved ‘Pippi Longstocking’ arrives in Shanghai for a summer of fun

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the classic fairy tale” Pippi Longstocking,” the beloved protagonist Pippi has launched her first-ever tour in China. Ten Livat shopping malls across the country have joined forces to host”Pippi Longstocking”'s debut exhibition in China.
At Shanghai Livat, over 10 must-visit themed installations have been unveiled, alongside more than 100 interactive experiences, including doll parades and bubble battles, inviting visitors to join the fun.
“Pippi Longstocking,” a Swedish national treasure created by Astrid Lindgren, features a fearless, optimistic, and extraordinarily strong heroine adored by fans worldwide. At Shanghai Livat’s outdoor plaza near Gate 2, a giant sculpture vividly recreates Pippi’s iconic image from the fairy tale.
Step further into "Pippi’s Happy Cottage, where a tree brimming with bright red apples stands at the entrance, with golden coins scattered beneath it. Inside, an open kitchen allows visitors to bake pancakes with Pippi or open cabinet doors to discover hidden treasures. A surprise button nearby delivers playful Pippi-isms when pressed.
On the LG1 Sunlight Plaza, the mall has set up P"ippi’s Playground, packed with fun-filled play facilities. On the third floor, an oversized trampoline beside a mushroom-shaped hut invites children to bounce their way to joy. Nearby, Pippi’s Bedroom in front of the Hamleys store offers a creative space for doodling and coloring. On the fifth floor, the rooftop garden features interactive game zones like Treasure Hunt in the Sand.
Shanghai Livat noted that ”Pippi Longstocking,” much like the mall itself, originates from Northern Europe. Pippi’s free-spirited, brave, and authentic personality aligns perfectly with Livat’s playful and innovative ethos, making this IP exhibition a natural fit.
While the exhibition runs for one month, the mall’s exciting activities will continue until late August. Coinciding with the 2025 Sh"anghai Summer International Consumption Season, the mall has prepared a series of themed events, including Pippi theater performances and a terrace photography contest, alongside summer bubble and water gun experiences. Various brand merchants will also offer exclusive discounts.
Additionally, from July 16 to September 4, LINE FRIENDS’ F"un Holiday Town will pop up at Shanghai Lival’s L1 atrium, bringing together adorable IPs like Brown Bear for a delightful gathering.
