On August 8, the opening ceremony of Changning District’s “8•8 National Fitness Day” and the launch ceremony of the Third Changning Public Sports Festival were held at the Raffles City Changning Lawn.

At 7:15 p.m., with the sound of the starting pistol, the “8•8 National Fitness Day” and the Third Changning Public Sports Festival officially began.Multiple sports experience programs and competitions at the Raffles City Changning Lawn started simultaneously.

At the event site, more than 100 residents experienced Zumba, boxing, dance, and other sports courses on the lawn.Meanwhile, the “2025 Shanghai Urban Orienteering Challenge Series” and a “Pet Sports Day” — which combined entertainment, social interaction, competition, and consumption — were also launched on the lawn.In addition, there was a “Sports Carnival” experience zone where residents could participate by registering on-site .Eight sports activities — including mini golf, fun archery, and pedal-powered cotton candy making — attracted many passersby to stop and join in .The joyful scenes painted a vivid picture of the deep integration of commerce, tourism, culture, sports, and exhibitions in Changning.

It is understood that this year’s Changning Public Sports Festival will run until the end of September, with an expected total of 60 various competitions and events.The activities will cover 10 subdistricts and towns, feature more than 30 sports, and link up with 6 major business districts and nearly 100 merchants to offer valuable discounts.

At the launch ceremony that evening, the organizers also presented plaques to enterprises under “single-card supervision” and “escrow supervision,” and awarded “Partner” honors to shopping malls that have contributed to the integration of commerce, tourism, culture, and sports.

Officials present at the event included Xu Qi, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau and Member of its Party Leadership Group; Pan Guoli, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changning District Committee and Head of the Publicity Department; and Gu Jieyan, Deputy Mayor of Changning District.
