Columbia Circle hosts Suspense Theatre Festival and artisan market for National Day

2025/09/30

As part of the National Day celebrations, Columbia Circle will host a series of engaging events, including the sixth Suspense Theatre Festival and the vibrant “Early Spring Market,” offering both residents and visitors diverse cultural experiences.

From now until October 8, four suspense plays originally staged in London’s West End will be performed across the venue. Since its first edition in 2020, the Suspense Theatre Festival, organized by Columbia Circle in collaboration with Shanghai Modern Theatre, has become a major cultural highlight. Through distinctive formats, immersive viewing experiences, and a blend of cultural tourism with performing arts, the festival has established itself as a signature cultural IP at Columbia Circle.

From October 1 to 5, Columbia Circle will also partner again with the Early Spring Market, a well-known market dedicated to crafts, to present the “Art Wander · Autumn Hues” themed market. The event is structured around four segments: intangible cultural heritage performances, storytelling, hands-on workshops, and a curated market. Bringing together over 100 independent artists and designers, the market will showcase contemporary crafts and artistic creations. Visitors will have the chance to purchase unique handmade items, interact directly with makers, and enjoy performances such as the Zhangzhou Glove Puppetry, a recognized form of intangible cultural heritage.

This year’s National Day also marks the first anniversary of Columbia Circle’s full opening to the public. Over the past year, the mixed-use compound has enriched its programming with diverse art exhibitions, avant-garde theatre, and immersive experiences. It has also cultivated a dynamic day-to-night atmosphere through its dining and retail offerings, establishing itself as a distinctive public gathering space.
