Squash tournament boosts Changning's sports culture, business vitality

The 2025 China Squash Open concluded on November 16 at the Xianxia Tennis Center after six days of intense competition, with Egyptian players claiming both the men's and women's singles titles.
Upgraded to a PSA World Tour Gold event, this year's tournament attracted 48 players from 15 countries and regions, including half of the world's top eight-ranked athletes.
Four Chinese wildcard players delivered notable performances, gaining valuable experience against world-class opponents. Wang Ding, an official from the Ball Games Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, said that the tournament provided Chinese athletes with a high-level competitive platform, helping to enhance their skills and build confidence for Olympic preparations.
During the event, activities such as youth "Master Face-to-Face" sessions and player meet-and-greets were held alongside the Shanghai Squash Challenge, sparking interest in the sport among the public, especially young enthusiasts.
In the lead-up to and during the tournament, organizers collaborated with major commercial districts to increase public awareness and engagement with squash, promoting integrated development of culture, tourism, commerce, sports, exhibitions, and green initiatives.
The 2025 China Squash Open City Experience Camp made its debut at The Place, featuring a range of on-site activities such as a squash culture exhibition, themed photo installations, and mini squash court experiences to further promote the sport.
Spectators also enjoyed exclusive discounts at multiple business districts in Changning by presenting their ticket stubs. Through the added effect of "ticket stub economy," the event boosted related industries including catering, accommodation, and cultural tourism around the venue, deepening the integration of sports with culture, business.
