Global museum gift shop brings world's cultural treasures to Changning

2026/02/04

Chengwu, the first global museum gift collection shop in Changning District, has opened its doors, offering a one-stop destination for licensed cultural and creative products from prestigious museums worldwide.

The store features authorized merchandise from an impressive roster of partners, including the British Museum, the National Gallery (UK), The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Palace Museum, the National Museum of China, and the Shanghai Museum, among others. Timed for the upcoming Year of the Horse, the shop has introduced a special collection of horse-themed items and the viral Palace Museum Calendar.

Inside the Wuyi Road location, visitors can find Vincent van Gogh's "Sunflowers" (from the National Gallery) reimagined as dolls and sun hats displayed alongside the British Museum's popular "Gayer-Anderson cat" series. A delicate paper-cut lamp from the National Museum of China shares the space with other playful souvenirs from cultural institutions across the globe. The horse-themed collection is a seasonal highlight, with a best-selling plush doll based on a horse-like bronze mythical creature from the Sanxingdui Museum charming shoppers.

Beyond souvenirs, Chengwu offers traditional Chinese wellness teas and an in-store book borrowing service.

"The shop breaks down the physical barriers of museums, bringing together exceptional cultural IP derivatives from around the world," said the store manager. "Residents can now collect authentic souvenirs without traveling far. We hope these creative products help make the artifacts in museums feel truly alive in our daily lives."
