Midsummer is when the Xinhua Road looks the most beautiful. Branches and leaves of plane trees on both sides are intertwined, enclosing this street into a long tree lined “tunnel.” It is pleasantly cool when walking along the street.

Xinhua Road which bridges Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and the city’s downtown is hiding in green trees and features numerous historic buildings and sites.

Renovation mainly focuses on the 2.4 kilometer section between Yan’an Road W. and Huaihai Road W., which covers an area of 0.7 square kilometers and with 14 residential quarters included.

In areas surrounding Xinhua Road, there are Panyu Road relief wall, G﹒ Art leisure complex, Hudec Memorial Hall, the former residence of Sun Fo and Columbia Circle worth visiting.
