2022/01/06

The mausoleum of Song Ching-ling, the late Honorary President of China, is located on No. 21, Songyuan Road. Known as the International Cemetery before liberation, it was renamed “Song Ching-ling’s Mausoleum” on 10 January, 1984 at the central party committee’s approval. The mausoleum composes a monument on the Mausoleum Boulevard, Monumental Square, Song Ching-ling’s Statue, Song’s grave and an exhibition room. There are thousands square meters of lawns and a variety of century-old trees in the mausoleum, making it solemn yet spectacular. This is where an eventful history and a great soul rests.

What makes it special?

It is a solemn yet pleasant place. Whenever I pass by, my heart is filled with respect for the great lady. --Sheng Feng, Senior Reporter of the Community Morning Post

I’ve been admiring Song Ching-ling after leaning from books that she was devoted not only to the nation’s liberation, but also the welfare of women and children. When I finally paid the visit to her mausoleum, I was deeply impressed by the beautiful environment. The items displayed in the exhibition, such as her photos, scripts and collections, brought me closer to this respected lady. It felt like a dream came true. --Wu Jiwen, resident in Zhabei District
